Terms of Use

These conditions govern every visit to Tyler County Criminal History, including use of its content and search tools. Accessing or continuing to use the website signifies acceptance of all terms stated below. Anyone who does not agree must discontinue use.

NO FCRA USE. Tyler County Criminal History is privately operated and has no affiliation with any local, West Virginia, or federal agency. The website and its advertising partners do not provide information for credit, employment, insurance, tenant screening, or another decision regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). This resource identifies official criminal-record channels; it is not a consumer reporting agency or private-investigation service.

1. What This Website Is

This independent reference website is not owned, endorsed, or administered by a government office. It neither stores official criminal records nor obtains records, conducts authorized checks, or files documents for a visitor.

Content routes users to Tyler County custodians such as the sheriff and courts, as well as the West Virginia State Police Criminal Identification Bureau, WVDCR, and West Virginia Sex Offender Registry. Government access rights arise under laws such as the West Virginia Freedom of Information Act, W. Va. Code §29B-1-1 et seq., while CIB dissemination is governed by §15-2-24. Those laws apply to the responsible public bodies, not to make this private website an official repository. Separately managed research tools may also appear on certain pages.

2. Rules for Using This Site

As a condition of access, a user must not:

  • Operate a bot, scraper, or other automated collection tool against the pages
  • Use the service in violation of a federal, state, or local law
  • Interfere with performance or prevent another person from accessing the website
  • Rely on the content for a hiring, housing, credit, insurance, or similar regulated decision
  • Attempt to enter a system, account, or area without authorization
  • Use information obtained here to threaten, stalk, intimidate, or harass a person

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Neither website content nor a linked result may be used to harass, stalk, threaten, intimidate, or unlawfully discriminate against any person. Such conduct may violate criminal or civil law. The West Virginia Sex Offender Registry serves public-safety awareness and does not authorize vigilantism, retaliation, or discriminatory treatment.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Tyler County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency as the FCRA defines that term. No background check, credit report, or other consumer report is created here. The website and its advertising partners do not offer a service designed to assess an applicant, renter, borrower, or insured person. A user may not rely on this website or a linked tool to:

  • Evaluate a housing application or prospective tenant
  • Make an employment or termination decision
  • Set an insurance rate or determine creditworthiness
  • Decide eligibility for a license, benefit, permit, or government program
  • Carry out any other activity regulated by the FCRA

When the FCRA governs a purpose, the required information must be obtained through an authorized compliant provider or applicable official procedure, never from this reference resource.

5. No Legal Advice

Descriptions of Tyler County offices, records, and procedures provide general information only. Advice about how West Virginia law applies to a particular charge, conviction, warrant, or expungement issue must come from a licensed attorney.

6. No Warranties

All content and services are offered "as is" and "as available." No warranty is made that:

  • An outside search provider will return complete or accurate results
  • Every page will remain free from errors, defects, or security vulnerabilities
  • Information will always be accurate, complete, and current
  • Access will be continuous, timely, or uninterrupted

Criminal-record status can change when a charge is filed, amended, dismissed, sealed, corrected, or expunged. Updates and omissions are therefore possible even when reasonable care is used. Nothing published here is an official statement by a Tyler County court, sheriff, or other government body.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may open sheriff and court websites, West Virginia agency pages, legal-aid resources, or independent search services. Those destinations operate beyond our control. We do not accept responsibility for an outside service's content, availability, prices, security, or data practices. Its own terms should be reviewed before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Tyler County Criminal History and its content partners retain their rights in the website's text, code, logos, and graphics. Prior written authorization is required to reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative material from protected content.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tyler County Criminal History is not liable for a loss or damage arising from access to, inability to use, or reliance on this website or any linked service.

10. Indemnification

A user agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold the website and its operators harmless from claims, demands, liabilities, and proceedings caused by that user's conduct or violation of these terms, including reasonable legal fees and related expenses.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by West Virginia law. Any action or dispute arising from website use must be filed in a court situated within West Virginia.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A revised version takes effect when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be suspended, restricted, or terminated at any time, with or without notice and for any reason.

14. Severability

If a provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in effect. The affected language will be limited or modified only to the extent needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions concerning these terms may be directed through the Contact page.
