Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its own response. Tyler County Criminal History does not retain or record those search terms on its servers.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained long enough to address the communication and maintain an appropriate record. Its contents are kept within the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Loading a page can cause the servers to receive routine technical and usage details, including:
- Page-view dates and times
- The operating system and general device category
- An internet protocol address associated with the connection
- The browser type and version used for the visit
- A referring website, when one supplied the visit
- Pages viewed and the approximate time spent on them
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device to support traffic measurement and site functions. Analytics providers can combine this data to show broad patterns, such as frequently visited pages or common exit points. A browser may be configured to reject cookies, although disabling them can change how certain features behave.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Tyler County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a repository of individual criminal records. Its content identifies official custodians such as the sheriff, Tyler County courts, West Virginia State Police Criminal Identification Bureau, WVDCR, and West Virginia Sex Offender Registry. The CIB dissemination law, W. Va. Code §15-2-24, governs state criminal-history reporting and release, while the West Virginia Freedom of Information Act, §29B-1-1 et seq., concerns access to qualifying government records. Neither statute turns ordinary visitor analytics into an official record or consumer report. We do not build a file about another person from visitor activity and are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA.
Third-Party Search Partners
Independent companies run the search boxes appearing on some pages. Their own privacy terms, retention periods, and disclosure practices apply to any information entered there. This policy does not control a partner's processing, so its policy should be reviewed before a query is sent.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Tyler County offices, West Virginia agencies, court systems, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's policy governs the new visit. Its terms should be read before personal information is provided.
Advertising companies may also use their own technology to measure activity across websites and select interest-based ads. Any such tracking is performed through those companies' systems.

The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If verified notice shows that a minor supplied such information, it will be removed as required.
